Power Supplies
Available in versions providing a continuous regulated output at up to 350W, GlobTek’s GT(M)200P350 family of power supplies delivers from 3.3V to 48.0V (in 0.1V increments) to serve demanding devices in applications from medical to industrial. Operating at an efficiency as high as 85%, the U-channel-chassis power supplies accept an input from 90 to 264Vac and offer up to 200W in convection-cooled configurations or up to 350W using an optional forced-air top cover.
Addressing high-power consumer device and other demanding applications, the GT-43004 family of high power density desktop power supplies from GlobTek are available in versions delivering up to 150W. The Level-V-rated ITE-qualified power supplies measure 172.5 x 72.2 x 42.0mm and are available in configurations accepting from 100Vac to 240 Vac providing from 12Vdc to 24Vdc (in 0.1V increments) with a C14 or C6 AC inlet configuration.
Providing a solution for instrumentation and other sensitive applications, the GT-51084-12N12 linear power supply from GlobTek delivers an output of ±12Vdc at 0.25 A with very low noise. Features of the 6-Watt power supply include a line voltage regulation of ±1% typical at full load and an output regulation of ±5%.
Providing green power supply solutions to engineers worldwide, the GlobTek GT-41132 Family of 60-W Level V power supplies now carry Singapore to IEC 60950-1:2005 approval. The power supplies are available with IEC 60320/ C6 or C8 inlets in double-insulated mechanical configurations delivering a low-ripple regulated output from 12 to 24Vdc (available in 0.1V increments) with an input from 90Vac to 264Vac.
Providing a regulated output with very low ripple of up to 50W, GlobTek’s GTM21097 family of medically-approved switching power supplies are intended for use in driving portable medical devices and charging their battery systems. Provided in an impact-resistant non-vented polycarbonate case, the conduction-cooled power supplies deliver an output voltage from 3.3V to 48V (in 0.1V increments) at 36W to 50W from a 100VAC to 250VAC input.

GlobTek announced its commitment to the EU Directive 2002/95/EC Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) which was implemented on July 1st 2006. GlobTek is committed to be in compliance with all applicable laws and safety regulations including the European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive.

Standard Code SJ/T 11363-2006 “Requirements for concentration limit for certain hazardous substances” and SJ/T 11364-2006 “Marking for control of pollution caused by electronic information” otherwise known as “China RoHS”, restriction of hazardous materials, is in effect and covering all electronic products. China RoHS legislation is largely equivalent to the European RoHS Directive, but does entail certain differences, which seem more demanding than the EU rules in some respects.

When you consider that a power supply is essential to electronics, it is amazing that so many designers wait until the end of the design process to design-in their power source. This is especially amazing today given that so much can be gained in system performance and efficiency, regardless the core technology or end product, by properly integrating the power supply into it.

Not every thermal challenge involves hot or wet environments, as we recently found out when GlobTek provided a power supply solution to serve an RFID application. In this case the manufacturer was concerned with high-altitude issues related to the shipping industry and airfreight.

It seems that thermal-management issues are constantly cropping up in consumer electronics, plaguing manufacturers of products from game consoles to tablets to phones. Some issues involve devices that are “merely” unpleasantly hot (which tells me that it won’t be very happy in a hot ambient), but other cases involved catastrophic thermal runaway (a fancy way of saying that the device burst into flames).

Driving Next-Generation Medical Devices

By Alix Paultre, GlobTek
Creating medical electronics that incorporate the latest technology is a challenging proposal today, as the application spaces served extend far beyond the simple diagnostic and electromechanical needs of the past. For example, older technologies gain new life with improved implementation, new technologies move from the fringe to the mainstream, and established tools gain new functionalities to extend their usefulness into other application spaces.
